Johnston County Schools- How you can help PDF Print E-mail

You can play an important role in helping more North Carolina students graduate from high school. Here are some ways to get involved:

Donate to your local education fund.  The Johnston County Education Foundation promotes innovation, involvement, and excellence in the public schools through the prudent administration of privately-funded programs, grants, and scholarships. Participate in the NC Graduation Project as a mentor or judge. Beginning in 2010, students need to complete a project to graduate.  This new requirement will help students connect their studies to the real-world.  Students need mentors in their chosen field of study as well as judges to help grade their finished projects.  Learn more about how you can get involved.  Click here …

Career Technical Programs Need Business and Workplace Internships…For our students to be prepared for the workplace, a one day shadowing experience may not be enough.  Therefore, we are asking businesses to volunteer their space and expertise for a student to work side by side with an experienced employee. Contact us if you are interested in helping our students make the transition into the real world.  Complete the following survey to let us know what you can do. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=8fHw9326v10lAiYn6zYPPw_3d_3d

High School Graduation and Beyond…Our students need positive role models who are graduates!  They need someone who has high expectations of them and are willing to take the time needed to help them reach those expectations.  Establishing a long term relationship can transform a potential high school drop out into a college graduate!  Take a look at our programs and let us know how you can help! http://www.johnston.k12.nc.us/education/components/scrapbook/default.php?sectiondetailid=71917
